Overseas Field Studies Camp

These are three to five days overseas field study camps, where students have a chance to experience the rich biodiversity and culture of our neighbouring countries.

Places include:


- Sedili, West Malaysia
- Pulau Tioman, West Malaysia
- Ulu Gombak Forest Reserve, West Malaysia

Sedili

Huts
The resort you will be staying has a lovely environment with tall coconut trees.
 
Cliff
At Sedili, you get to explore its spectacular rocky shore.
 
Hermit Crab
One of the little animals commonly seen on the shore is the blue striped hermit crab..
 
Pitcher Plant
Interesting plants like this pitcher plant can be found in the freshwater swamp forest.
 
Flower
Sedili also boast a mature mangrove forest with various species of mangrove trees, such as the magnificent Lumnitzera littorea.
 
tacca
The beach tacca, which is very rare in Singapore, can be commonly found along the shores.

Pulau Tioman

Reef
We will stay at the Paya Beach Resort on Pulau Tioman.
 
Reef
Just in front of the resort is a spectacular coral reef.
 
Sea star
You will be given a guided walk of the intertidal area at low tide, and get to see interesting marine like sea stars.
 
SEa Urchin
There is a good population of sea urchins in the coral reef in front of the resort.
 
Fresh Water Ecology
Apart from marine and intertidal ecology, you will get to learn about secondary forest and fresh water ecology too.
 
Monkeys
You will be given a guided walk in the mangrove and coastal forest. One of the commonly seen animals in the forest are these long-tailed macaques.
