Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research

Nature Explorers' Programme 2011

This is the third Nature Explorers’ Programme, organised by Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research (RMBR) of the National University of Singapore, sponsored by ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Pte Ltd and supported by the West Zone for the Centre of Excellence.

In 2011, a total of 274 students took part in the programme. This included 121 students from 13 schools and 7 homeschoolers in the Primary category; and 144 students from 15 schools and 2 homeschoolers in the Secondary category. Schools that participated in this programme in 2011 are listed below.

Out of these 274 participants, the top 30 nature explorers were chosen based on the quality of their nature journal. Snapshots of the students' Nature Journals can be found here. These top nature explorers were selected to take part in a 4-day field study camp at Pulau Tioman. A sneak peek of the camp can be found on the museum's blog. Here's what some of the participants have to say about the programme and the camp:

“New experience, eye-opening”
“The camp was very enjoyable and boosted my interest in nature studies.”
“We learnt skills as well as knowledge, and it was hands-on.”
“I think the camp was enjoyable and hope that it will continue so others will also be able to experience it.”
