Field Study Workshops

These are half to one day field study workshops on the diversity, ecology and dynamics of an ecosystem. The learning objectives of these workshops include learning about:

- basic habitat structure
- biodiversity
- adaptations of plants and animals
- ecological roles of plants and animals
- ecological sampling methodologies
- nature conservation in Singapore
- the environment and what we can do
- nature journal writing

Worksheets and notes are provided to help students in their thinking and understanding of the ecosystem processes. The content can be customized to suit different levels of students. Workshops for teachers can be conducted.

Cost: $25-$80 per student (depends on duration, content and venue)

Cost is inclusive of GST, instructors’ fee, full-colour guidesheet, notes, worksheets, use of equipment and coordinating fees.

Instructor to student ratio is 1: 15-20

Suitable for all levels of students and teachers.

• Bukit Timah Nature Reserve (primary rainforest)
• Tree Top Walk (secondary forest)
• Labrador (rocky shore)
• Changi (sandy shore)
• Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve (mangroves)
• Pasir Ris Nature Park (mangroves)
• Pulau Ubin (kampong, secondary forests and mangroves)
• St John’s Island (intertidal area)
• Pulau Semakau (intertidal area)
• Field study of freshwater ecosystem
• Field study of insects
• Field study of birds
