Your Guide to Museums and Galleries in Singapore

About the Museum Roundtable webpage

In July 2001, I was fascinated to discover that there were 19 museums and galleries that were members of the Museum Roundtable, a loosely affiliated group chaired by National Heritage Board. The brochure that was circulating then had these strong colours and was a treasure trove of information, painfully assembled by the secretariat in NHB.

Deciding to put this up on the web, I recruited Chim Chee Kong, a volunteer with Raffles Museum Toddycats who was then a fresh university graduate. He too was just as pleasantly surprised by the information on the brochure and after a few rounds of editing, completed the webpage in March 2002.

This webpage was based on the Museum Roundtable brochure of 2001. The content was extracted from the brochure and its design and colours applied to these simple pages.

This site is meant to serve principally as a directory, pointing to the more comprehensive pages by individdual members. Every year, an exercise is conducted to have page listed in as many internet directories and search engines as possible to better serve this function.

The webpage was announced to Museum Roundtable members on 11th April 2002.
