Semakau Walk with Students
23 Aug 2009
On 23 August 2009, an intertidal walk at Semakau was conducted for 27 students from Dunman High and 26 students from Queensway Secondary. It was raining very heavily with thunder just before the meeting time at Marina South Pier, but fortunately, the rain stopped when the students arrived. The one-hour boat journey to the island was rather uneventful, but the real excitement started when the students walked through a dark secondary forest to finally reach the intertidal area of Pulau Semakau! Most of the students had never been on a natural shore before, and were truly surprised to see the amazing array of marine life that could be found on Singapore's shore. A selection of photographs of the trip was posted in the gallery below.
The Dunman High students, guided by RMBR Nature Guide July Lin (in white squating), also had their turn at the unidentified sea star, while another group from Queensway Secondary who were guided by HSBC volunteer, Pan Peiting, waited patiently for their turn.
