Last Morning Survey for 2009
22 Aug 2009

Project Semakau had its last morning survey on 22 August 2009. The volunteers had to meet at 4.30am in the morning at Marina South Pier for this trip as the tide was very early.

Although only 52 volunteers signed up for this survey and a number of the volunteers had to do the survey alone, we still managed to complete the survey in time with a number of new sightings!

Among the new sightings were a Cuttlefish (Sepia sp.) at the sandy shore, an Arabian Cowrie (Cypraea arabica) at the rocky area, and a Long Tentacle Anemone (Macrodactyla doreensis) among the seagrass. Some of the volunteers also found a seven-armed Knobbly Sea Star (Protoreaster nodosus).

Here are some of the photograph taken during the survey.

It was uncommon enough to find a Knobbly Sea Star (Protoreaster nodosus) with six arms, let alone finding one with seven!
