Singapore River

Singapore River is located to the south of Kallang Basin. Like the basin the river is also heavily polluted in the early 1970s and a ten year clean-up programme was initiated in 1977 to remove all the sources of pollution. In order to check on the marine life condition, two surveys were conducted, once in 1986 prior to completion of the clean-up programme and another in 1987 to monitor whether the conditions have improved after the completion of the clean-up in June, 1987. The riverbed is mainly muddy.
