Head The hesionids are active and carnivorous. They are mainly found in under stones and dead corals. They are commonly found in hard substrates and shallow water rarely in deep water and soft sediments . They have iridescent colors such as yellow, green and purple. They are also rather fragile. They may also be commensal with terebellids, echinoderms, crustaceans and sipunculids. The larger hesionids are carnivores feeding on polychaetes and other small invertebrates. Some may be deposit-feeders, ingesting detritus. The interstitial species feed on diatoms, bacteria-rich detritus, copepods and foraminiferans. Species of this family found in Singapore include
