Sungei Buloh

Sungei (=River) Buloh is located on the north-western coast of Singapore. The area was used to be a pig-farming area. In 1988, the farms were relocated to Punggol and the area declared a bird sanctuary. A total of 5 stations were sampled each year. The study area consist of two rivers, Sungei Buloh Besar and Sungei Buloh Kechil, which drain into West Johor Strait. Mangrove forest is found on the intertidal zone along the major portion of the river. The bottom is mainly mud.
