NLB organises exhibitions, library tours

For nearly a week in April, members of the public can sign up for guided tours to explore over 50 Singapore libraries and see what makes them tick.

From April 22-26, there will be daily guided tours at the Woodlands Regional Library, the National Refence Library, library@orchard (library at Orchard) and 46 community children libraries islandwide.

Those interested in Southeast Asia's heritage and natural history can register with the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies and the NUS Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research for a tour of their private collections and facilities.

The National Library Board says this is all part of a drive to help its customers access information that its own libraries may not have.

Paul Johnson, regional network development manager, National Library Board, said: "The idea is to make the public more aware of the kind of collections residing in these libraries. By doing so, they'll have a better idea of where to search for the resources when they need it."

The tours will be conducted during the Singapore Library Festival which is held as part of the inaugural World Library summit to be held on 24 April.

Over 1,000 professionals will be in Singapore to discuss key issues in knowledge management.
