These fungi and bacteria in the Culture Collection
have been collected and maintained over the last 30 years. The
collection was started by the Mycology and Plant Pathology Laboratory
of the Department of Biological Sciences to support teaching and
research.
The collection is now one of several co-operating
laboratories of the Bangkok Microbiological Resource Centre (MIRCEN),
and is used to support fungal enzymes, fungal chitosan, fungal
aero-allergens and mycorrhizae for research. Active research on
fungal diversity and ecology continues to contribute new strains
to the collection.
