Donate to our Dinosaur ExhibitAfter several months of concerted effort, the Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research has raised sufficient funds to procure the family of three giant diplodocid sauropod dinosaurs for the new Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum that will open in 2014. The major donors are Dr and Mrs Lee Seng Gee together with the D S Lee Foundation. With their very generous contribution, donations from an unnamed donor, Siloso Beach Resort, BinjaiTree, Bengawan Solo as well as many private well-wishers, these three sauropods or “long-neck” dinosaurs will form the centrepiece of the new museum's gallery. We hope that these dinosaurs will inspire future generations of scientists to pursue research across multi-disciplinary fronts. As such, NUS is extremely grateful to all our donors for this strong show of support to help bring these magnificent animals to Singapore! Now that the giant sauropods are coming to NUS, the museum will embark on the final phase of fund-raising for the dinosaur project – to raise another $2 million to build an exhibition on the history of life on earth, centred around the three dinosaurs. We look forward to your continual support to make the museum a much better home for the dinosaurs!
We appreciate your generous support towards the purchase of a set of three large and authentic fossil skeletons of the sauropod dinosaur Diplodocus. These dinosaurs are thought to be the largest animals to ever walk on the surface of this Earth and the three are believed to be part of the same family group. The immense educational value offered by these dinosaurs and the potential for them to be a multi-generational attraction cannot be emphasized enough. And when displayed together as a group, it will be a unique and a singular feat not matched by any other natural history museum in the world.
