Benito Tan is a lecturer at the Department of Biological Sciences. He is working on the taxonomy and ecology of Bryophytes. More at his webpage.
The flora and floral research, especially the bryophytes, in Mongolia is summarized. The beautiful natural landscape and unique vegetation of the Mongolian gobi bordering China is presented in colorful images. The focus is on the National Geographic Society funded project, "A Bryological Expedition to the Gobi Altai of Mongolia". The interesting culture, religion, history and lifestyle of the nomadic descendants of Great Genghis Khan, as well as the modern life in the capitol, Ulaan Baatar, will also be introduced.
