About the talk
The
negative impact of introduced species on native biodiversity and ecosystems
has been widely recognized. In addition, introduced species can be
devastating for human economy. Managing introduced species is one
of the great challenges that conservation biologists, politicians
and managers face. Prof. Simberloff will talk about how, in spite
of an air of pessimism and doom that pervades conservationists and
invasion biologists, we could actually do a good job of control biological
invasions: the science and technology are there.
